SACRAMENTO - Republican Lt. Governor candidate Ron Nehring this afternoon issued the following Labor Day statement concerning the challenges facing California's working men and women:
"Labor Day provides us the opportunity to recognize and honor California's hard working men and women and the contributions each is making to create one of the most vibrant, innovative and productive economies in the world.
"Yet as many Californians enjoy the beaches, parks and picnics this weekend, we should be mindful of our friends, neighbors and fellow citizens who are struggling with joblessness and poverty. Too many Californians are looking for work yet cannot find it, while others have given up all together. Our people are today saddled with one of the nation's most crushing tax burdens, the flight of jobs and job-creating businesses to other states, and the nation's worst poverty rate.
"We should commit ourselves to making the bold changes needed to make California's economy Number One again so that by the next Labor Day, the futures of those struggling today will be brighter.
