Conservative leader Congressman Tom McClintock and Republican Party of San Bernardino County join growing list of key GOP supporters
SAN DIEGO -- Former California Republican Party Chairman and candidate for Lt. Governor Ron Nehring (R) today announced two more influential Republican Party endorsements in the campaign for the state's number two post.
Congressman Tom McClintock, a leading figure in the state Republican Party and the GOP's 2006 nominee for Lt. Governor, is backing Nehring. McClintock said, "Ronald Reagan rightly envisioned a Republican Party of bold colors, not pale pastels. Ron Nehring is a champion of the conservative principles and solutions that are sorely needed in Sacramento and I'm proud to support him for Lt. Governor."
On Thursday evening, the Republican Party of San Bernardino County voted to back Nehring. Assemblyman Curt Hagman, the county Republican leader, said, "Ron Nehring is our choice for Lt Governor because he has demonstrated a commitment to lower taxes, limited government and bold reform in Sacramento. He is an excellent candidate and further strengthens our statewide team."
San Bernardino is the state's fifth largest county by population with over two million residents. The Republican Party of San Bernardino County joins the Los Angeles and San Diego County Republican committees, the California Young Republican Federation and the California Republican Assembly in backing Nehring.
