SANTA BARBARA -- Republican Lt. Governor candidate Ron Nehring issued the following statement this afternoon in response to reports that officials in the Obama Administration continue to denigrate Israel, including Administration officials referring to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as "chickensh**."
"At a time when the terror group ISIS has captured territory in Iraq and Syria the size of Great Britain, seized millions of dollars worth of American military hardware and continued to torture and execute western hostages, the priority for the Obama Administration should be defeating the jihadists, not waging a behind the scenes war against America's strongest ally in the Middle East, Israel.
"During my mission to Israel this summer, the critical nature of America's support for Israel was clear. The continued denigration of top Israeli officials by the Obama Administration emboldens our enemies and sends mixed signals to our friends.
"Through the Iran Divestment Program, trade, and technological cooperation California plays an important role in supporting Israel. Now is the time for California leaders of all parties to speak with a clear voice in support of Israel and call on the Obama Administration to do the same.
